Raw Mango with Potatoes

Ingredients:

Raw Mango                    -  1 medium sized
Potatoes                         -  3 - 4 nos
Grated coconut               -  2 table spoons
Onions                            -  1 nos
Tomato(Optional)            -  1 no
Green chilies                   -  2 - 3 nos
Ginger                            -  1 inch
Gud(Jaggery)(Optional)  -  1/2 tea spoon
Turmeric powder            -  1 tea spoon
Sauf                               -  1 tea spoon
Jeera                              -  1 tea spoon
Mustard                         -  1 tea spoon
Black gram dal               -  1 tea spoon
Garam masala powder    -  1 tea spoon
Ghee                              -  1 table spoon
Salt to taste
Curry leaves                   -  a few leaves

1.  Wash and boil potatoes, peel and cut into small pieces.
2.  Grind together coconut, ginger and green chilies.
3.  Cut mangoes, onions and tomatoes into small pieces.
4.  Heat ghee in a kadai, add mustard seeds, jeera, sauf and black gram dal and once they crackle add the chopped onions.
5.  After the onions turn light brown, add the chopped raw mangoes, salt, turmeric powder and mix well.
6.  Reduce the flame and once the mangoes are half cooked add the ground masala, diced potatoes, garam masala powder, tomatoes and curry leaves and also water if necessary. (Add gud only when the mangoes are very sour.
7.  Stir well and allow the mixture to cook together till the mangoes are done.
8.  Serve hot with rice/ parathas/ roti/ or dosa.
