Banana Flower Sabji (Vazhappu masala)

Ingredient:

Banana flower Sabji
Banana flower        -  1 medium sized
Potato                    -  1 no
Onion                     -  2 nos
Tomatoes               -  2 nos
Green chilies           -  2 - 3 nos
Coriander powder  -  1 tea spoon
Jeera powder         -  1 tea spoon
Turmeric powder    -  1 tea spoon
Red chili                 -  1 - 2 nos
Jaggery (Gur)         -  1/2 tea spoon
Cooking oil            -  1 table spoon
Mustard seeds       -  1 tea spoon
Jeera                      -  1 tea spoon
Fennel seeds(Sauf) -  1 tea spoon
Curry leaves
Salt to taste

1.  Clean banana flower. (Remove the outer maroonish layer, take the small flowerlets, remove the thick hard stick inside the flower)
2.  Finely chop the banana flowers.
3.  Finely chop onions, tomatoes, green chilies and cut the potatoes into cubes.
4.  Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, jeera, sauf and finely broken red chilies.
5.  After they crackle, add the onions, curry leaves and green chilies.
6.  As soon as the onions turn transparent, add the tomatoes.
7.  Stir cook till tomatoes become soft, then add salt, gur, jeera powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder.
8.  Also add the diced potatoes and banana flowers and stir well.
9.  Cook covered in low flame till the vegetable is cooked.
10.Serve with rice or roti or paratha.
