Bitter Gourd Masala



Ingredients:


Bitter Gourd       -  200 gms
Onions               -  4 medium sized
red chili powder -  2 tea spoon
curd                   -  3 table spoons
turmeric powder -  1 tea spoon
oil                      -  5 table spoons
salt to taste.

1.  Cut bitter gourd in slightly bigger pieces.
2.  In a pan take the curd and add salt and turmeric powder to it and mix thoroughly.
3.  Add 2 cups of water and also the bitter gourd pieces and cook till half done.
4.  Remove from flame and strain the water.
5. Heat the oil in a kadai and shallow fry the bitter gourd pieces.
6.  Fry till they turn golden brown.
7.  Grind the onions into a paste without adding water.
8.  Remove the fried bitter gourd pieces and add the ground onions to the oil.
9.  Add salt for the onions only and red chili powder.
10.Remember we have added salt in the bitter gourd while cooking in the curd water.
11.Once the oil is separated from the onion mixture add the bitter gourd let it cook for a few min.
12.Bitter Gourd masala ready.
13.It goes well with rice and chapatis.
