Ingredients:
Banana flower - 1 medium sized
Bengal gram dal - 3 table spoons
Black gram dal - 3 table spoons
Red chillies - 3 nos
Asafoitida - 1 pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon
Cooking oil - 4 table spoons
For garnishing:
Mustard seeds - 1 table spoon
Black gram dal - 1 table spoon
Salt to taste
1. Soad the bengal gram dal, black gram dal and red chillies for 1 hr.
2. From the banana flower remove the upper layer and from the inside pluck the small flower lets.
3. From inside each flower let remove the hard pistil.
4. Now chop the cleaned banana flower.
5. Put it in buttermilk so that it does not turn dark.
6. Now Grind the soaked dals and chillies into a slightly coarse paste without adding water.
7. Squeeze the chopped banana flowers and take it in a bowl.
8. Now add the ground paste, salt, turmeric powder and asafoitida and mix thoroughly.
9. Heat the oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds and black gram dal.
10.Once the dal turns brown and mustard crackles add the mixture.
11.Keep stirring and cook till the flower is cooked.
12.Banana flower sabji ready.
