Channa Masala (cholea)

Ingredients:

Channa                -  200 gms(Soaked overnight)
Onion                  -  2 big ones
Tomatoes            -  3 nos
Garlic                  -  8 pearls
Red chillies             -  2 nos
Pepper                   -  1/2 tea spoon
Cardamom             -  1 no
Cinnamon stick       -  1/2 inch
Clover                    -  2 nos
Jeera                      -  1 tea spoon
Turmeric powder   -  1/2 tea spoon
Jaggry                    -  1/2 tea spoon
Chopped coriander -  1 table spoon
Salt to taste
Ghee                       -  1 table spoon

1.  Pressure cook the soaked channa with little salt till soft.
2.  Heat ghee in a kadai.
3.  Add Cinnamon stick(Broken into small pieces), clover, red chillies, cardamom, pepper and jeera.
4.  Once they turn brown add chopped onions.
5.  Once it turns transparent add chopped tomatoes.
6.  Once the tomatoes are soft remove from stove.
7.  Let it cool down to room temperature
8.  Grind it to a thick paste.
9.  Add it to the cooked channa and bring to boil.
10.Add water if necessary.
11.Add salt if necessary and also the jaggry.
12.Remove from stove and garnish with chopped coriander.
13.Cholea or Channa masala ready.
