Ingredients:
Green gram dal - 2 table spoons
Chow chow - 2 nos
Onion - 1 no
Tomatoes - 2 nos
Green chillies - 2 nos
Curry leaves - a few leaves
Fresh coriander - 2 table spoons (finely chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon
Cooking oil - 1 table spoon
Mustard seeds - 1 table spoon
Green gram dal - 1 table spoon
Salt to taste
1. Cook green gram dal till half cooked.
2. Add chopped chow chow to the half cooked dal.
3. Add salt and turmeric powder.
4. Let the dal and vegetable cook nicely and remove from stove.
5. Heat oil in a kadai.
6. Add the mustard seeds and black gram dal.
7. Once the mustard crackles and the dal turns golden brown add the finely chopped onions, green chillies and curry leaves.
8. Once they are cooked add the finely chopped tomatoes.
9. Once the tomatoes turn soft add the finely chopped coriander leaves and remove from stove.
10.Add the above mixture to the cooked dal and chow chow mixture and stir well.
11.Chow chow with green gram dal ready. Serve with rice/roti or dosa .
